Top 10 Posts based on hits:(These tend to also be the posts with the most comments and that have generated the most conversations.)This post generated a lot of talk about children and crying and led to an intense discussion of “Cry-it-out”.
Breastfeeding; lets move on the the ‘third wave’
I continue to get hits on this post, mostly because it is a link on Fearless Formula Feeders Blog. But every time I read it I am glad I wrote it.
Thoughts on Attachment Parenting
I am really interested in different parenting theories and how they impact us as parents. In this post, I look at my thoughts on Attachment Parenting.
The Persistent Phantom Baby Cry
This post gets more search engine hits then any other. You would not believe the number of people that google “phantom baby cry”. Ah motherhood….
Really- this post is all about realizing that what is abnormal behaviour for an adult is not abnormal behaviour for a toddler. I know we all think our toddlers have OCD, but 99% of them don’t- they’re just being toddlers.
This is the other post that gets the most search engine hits. I guess my kid is not the only one that had a love affair with book destruction!
One of the things that is most important to me is listing to each others view point. This post is a bit of a rant on two posts I read which really weren’t willing to even entertain the idea that others view points were worth hearing.
ControverSunday: To protect or not to protect
Do you let your toddler climb up to the highest hights at the playground or are you hovering over their every move? To what extent to you let your kid make their own mistakes and to what extent to you try and protect them? This post explores that question.
ControverSunday: Extended Breastfeeding
The world health organization recommends breastfeeding for at least 2 years, but many people are unsure about this recommendation for ‘extended breastfeeding’. My take is that we support mothers to breastfeed so long as it is working for both mom and baby/toddler.
ControverSunday: Burden of Baby Milestones
We, as a culture, are obsessed with all the little milestones our babies go through. First steps, first words, sleeping through the night, ect. ect. And we compare all the kids we know to our kid, worrying that our kid is behind or bragging that they are ahead. And that, is what this ControverSunday post is all about!!
My Favourite Posts:(other then the ones above)
The one where I rant about talking down to kids. Drives me crazy!
There is a lot of talk now about following your instincts as a parent. I agree with the advice. But when it comes to our instincts, if we followed them, would we all make the same choices?
ControverSunday: when bad kids happen to good parents
Ah, blame the parent- a concept that comes up and up again in our society. In this post, I look at the question of a parents impact on a child’s behaviour and if ‘bad kids can happen to good parents.’
I will admit it. I like to give advice. I like to help people and be supportive when I can. But this post isn’t your typical first parent advice– you will see what I mean!
Yeah, I know, it is the quintessential parenting topic. No “mommy blogger” can escape it! But I big topic for me. These are my thoughts.
Okay now its your turn: what are your favs?
